Lack of education puts children at a disadvantage that lasts into adulthood. It leads to malnutrition, poor healthcare services, low self-esteem and unemployment. This situation fuels crime, hostility and reduces lifespan! Poor education increases the hardship within families.
This project is cheap and will bring renewable results since it complements than duplicate state provision. With intensive academic support, we intend to lead majority of these displaced children into age-appropriate classes in local schools within 36 months. At the end of each academic year, the children admitted into various local schools will be affiliated to local coaching centres, this will give them the help they need to keep up with their peers and remain stimulated about education and its benefits. Our project aims to give children the confidence to overcome cultural barriers and openly ask questions that threaten their willpower.
Our education camps will run from June to August for three consecutive years to provide intensive academic support for children.
The camps will be located at Owerri City to meet, persuade and engage children involved in sorting litter, serving masons, hawking fruits and food stuffs along major highways, as well as rescue and rehabilitate others given away as domestic servants.
This project involves working closely with parents, children, local employers, community leaders and teachers to make sure that they are enlightened about the benefits of children education. The project’s home-based teachers will supply academic support and counselling needed by the children, equipping them to attend conventional schools.
This project will cost £250, 472 yearly. We aim to provide these services for new children yearly until it is no longer obligatory. Multi-year funding is highly required. Support from individuals and organisations will be warmly appreciated. |
